The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is continuing to assess the damage dealt by two tornadoes and multiple severe thunderstorms that battered parts of the state Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Two tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down in Wayne County (EF-2) and George County (EF-1). A line of intense thunderstorms elsewhere killed three people – one in Clarke County and two in Madison County – while seven other injuries were reported in Madison County and Wayne County.
Officials report that 14 homes and six farms sustained damage in the storms.
MEMA reported the damage totals for the following counties, with damage ranging from affected to destroyed:
- Clarke – 2 homes
- Harrison – 1 home
- Madison – 2 homes
- Perry – 2 homes
- Warren – 1 home
- Wayne – 6 homes, 6 farms
