Public input is needed as the Mississippi Mud Monsters look to name their mascot ahead of the club’s debut in Trustmark Park.
On Friday, the Frontier League club took to social media to unveil a graphic displaying what the mascot will look like. But the mascot is currently nameless. To fix that, fans are being asked to choose from one of six titles for the giant catfish.
“The Mississippi Mud Monsters have unleashed our biggest, scaliest, muddiest, most chaotic team member. He’s got fins, swagger, and a love for baseball that can’t be matched,” a statement from the Mud Monsters reads.
“BUT — this big, bad, bat-swingin’ beast doesn’t have a name! And let’s be honest… a legend like this deserves a name that’s just as legendary. That’s why we’re handing it over to YOU, the fans!”
The names up for contention are:
- Fish
- Muddy
- Mo
- Sludge
- Chomps
- Bubba
Voting is open now and runs through Friday, March 21, at 5:00 p.m. Fans can select their preferred mascot name here. A promotion is being offered where one random fan who places a vote will win four tickets to the Mud Monsters’ inaugural matchup in Pearl. The MLB partner club will take on the Florence Y’alls out of Kentucky on May 8.
Fans can find the club’s full schedule here.
