As veteran NBA players across the league find new teams to call home, Devin Booker has elected to remain with the franchise that drafted him in the first round a decade ago.

The Moss Point High School alum agreed to a two-year, $145 million extension with the Phoenix Suns on Thursday. The move follows Phoenix’s hiring of new head coach Jordan Ott while also trading decorated forward Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

Booker is the Suns’ all-time leading scorer with 16,452 points in his 10-season tenure. While restructuring the roster, Phoenix front office management ensured that keeping the star guard was a priority. This past campaign, the Suns missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020, though Booker had a promising season, averaging 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 75 games.

Last summer, Booker helped Team USA win its fifth consecutive gold medal in basketball. Along with late-game heroics from Golden State superstar Steph Curry, Booker’s 15 points and 5 rebounds aided in the USA’s 98-87 win over France.

The upcoming NBA season will begin in late October, and Booker is looking to have Phoenix back as a title contender.
