An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting left one person injured in Crystal Springs.
According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics were conducting a joint operation Tuesday around 6 p.m. near South Jackson Street.
The agents encountered a group of individuals inside a vehicle they believed to be engaged in possible illegal activity. Upon attempting to make contact, a passenger exited the vehicle, and following a brief foot pursuit, the subject presented what appeared to be a weapon. In response, an agent discharged their weapon.
The subject received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. No agents were physically injured during the incident.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and is gathering evidence. It will share all findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
