Danica Hart, formerly the lead of chart-topping country trio Chapel Hart, recently embarked on a solo career and has now released her first studio single.
“Amazing Grace” dropped Thursday on all streaming platforms. It may have the same name as the often-remade hymn. However, it’s not an exact cover, but rather, it’s a mix of the original lyrics and Hart’s reflection on what has been “one of the hardest times” of her life.
“This song…is more than just another tune to me. It’s my testimony,” Hart said. “After everything I’ve been through, and literally I’ve been through one of the hardest times of my life, I can truly say God’s grace has carried me every step of the way. It protected me and kept me from losing my mind.”
While “Amazing Grace” is now readily available to listen to, some fans got to hear it during Hart’s “Open Hart Sessions,” a recent tour of intimate stops allowing those in attendance to hear Hart sing and tell the stories behind each song.
Hart even teased her new single on social media with some users writing that it’s “life-giving,” “healing,” and “exactly what the world needs right now.” According to her, those reactions are part of the reason why she decided to hop in the studio and record it in the first place. Releasing it on Thanksgiving was purposeful, too.
“Releasing it on Thanksgiving feels like giving that gratitude back to [God], as well as opening the door for others to reflect on how truly amazing his grace has been in their lives as well, even in the midst of hardships,” Hart said.
Chapel Hart announced in August it was disbanding after a years-long run that included being a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” performing at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on multiple occasions, and embarking on several tours. Their last shows were in October.
Danica is trying to wow the world solo, while her sister, Devynn, and cousin, Trea Swindle, have stayed teamed up as a new duo called Magnolia Rising. They’ve released two songs so far: “Hit the Ground” and “Dream Running.”
