Bralan Womack, the top high school safety and the No. 2 overall prospect in Mississippi, flipped from Auburn to Mississippi State on Monday.
The five-star from Hartfield Academy made the announcement to stay in state on Monday. He went to social media and wrote, “I’m home,” paired with a dog and a house emoji.

Womack joined Mississippi State’s 2026 class two days before the early signing period begins on Dec. 3. His commitment immediately launched the Bulldogs’ recruiting class up 16 spots to No. 30 nationally, according to 247Sports.
If Womack signs a national letter of intent with Mississippi State, he will be the seventh-highest ranked signee in program history. Those in front of him include Bulldog legends in Chris Jones, Jerious Norwood, Charles Cross, and Jeffery Simmons.
Womack’s decision to flip to Mississippi State comes over three months after he chose Auburn over Ohio State, Florida, and Texas A&M during an announcement ceremony broadcast live by CBS Sports. Since picking the burnt orange and blue cap, a lot has changed on the Plains, notably head coach Hugh Freeze being fired in early November.
On Sunday, Auburn announced it was hiring South Florida head coach Alex Golesh to lead the program and reports quickly surfaced that defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin’s future with the Tigers was up in the air. Durkin had served as the interim after Freeze’s firing with some players, including starting linebacker Xavier Atkins, vouching for Durkin to have the interim tag removed.
The uncertainty at Auburn, specifically surrounding those who recruited Womack, and a hard push by current Mississippi State coaches and players helped make the flip happen. Bulldog freshman quarterback Kamario Taylor, who started last week’s Egg Bowl, was one of many trying to convince Womack to commit.
Womack battled some injuries during his senior season at Hartfield but managed to play nine games and be a driving force to the Hawks appearing in a third consecutive MAIS state championship. He finished the year with 26 total tackles and an interception on defense and 1,261 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns on offense and special teams.
His final high school stat line includes 142 tackles and 16 interceptions on defense and 3,748 all-purpose yards and 32 touchdowns on offense and special teams. Womack was utilized by Hartfield coach Craig Bowman primarily as a safety, wide receiver, and kick returner but he also showed bursts when occasionally lined up in the backfield.
