The Mississippi man accused of sexually assaulting a real estate agent before an open house over the summer died Monday, according to law enforcement.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to multiple outlets that Jerry Glynn Dennis passed away Monday morning at a local hospital. Still in the custody of the RCSO, he had been transported to be treated for medical issues and died of natural causes, authorities said.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is reviewing Dennis’ death.
Dennis was arrested in July after an investigation found he sexually assaulted and robbed a realtor in Pearl. Law enforcement said at the time they were called to a residence on Cedar Ridge Boulevard. Upon arrival, responding deputies met with the victim, who stated that she was a realtor getting ready for an open house event at the location.

The victim said that once she entered the home, Dennis came inside and acted like he was interested in purchasing it. He then brandished a handgun, at which point a struggle began between him and the victim. When the victim bit him on the arm, Dennis struck her in the head with the handgun.
According to RCSO, the victim was then forced by Dennis to undress and was sexually assaulted. After the assault, Dennis is alleged to have told the victim not to tell anyone before stealing the keys to her vehicle and a cell phone.
Investigators eventually arrested Dennis at another residence in Rankin County. He was charged with two counts of sexual battery, kidnapping, and armed robbery. He was being held on a $950,000 bond at the time of his death.
