Mississippi’s first-ever wild turkey stamps will soon be available for purchase.

The state’s Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced on Monday that the stamps will go on sale on Jan. 15, 2026, ahead of the spring turkey season.

According to a recently-enacted state law, any person 16 years or older must purchase a wild turkey stamp before hunting the wild fowl in the Magnolia State. This applies to both resident and non-resident hunters hunting on private and public lands. However, exceptions are in place for disabled hunters or those in possession of a lifetime sportsmen’s license.

The wild turkey stamp, per wildlife officials, will serve as a specialized permit, with proceeds dedicated to restoring and protecting wild turkey populations, funding scientific research, and increasing access to public hunting opportunities. The cost is $10 per stamp for residents and $100 per stamp for nonresidents.

Each stamp is valid through the final day of the spring wild turkey season following its purchase. A new stamp must be obtained for future seasons. Along with the purchase of the wild turkey stamp, hunters will be issued three unique harvest identifiers that will be used within the game check system at the time of harvesting their bird. These will be issued as soon as a stamp is bought.

Exempt hunters, however, will be required to acquire the exempt turkey game check privilege, at no cost, to receive their digital game checks. Wild turkey stamps will be available here.
