A Louisiana work-release inmate who had been on the run since September has been apprehended in Mississippi’s capital city.
According to a report from the Tangipahoa (LA) Parish Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 51-year-old Christopher Delcambre at a homeless encampment in Jackson on Monday.
Delcambre reportedly walked away from an assignment at the Florida Parishes Arena in Amite City, La., on Sept. 27. At the time, he was in a program that allows select inmates to work jobs outside of the jail while incarcerated.
As law enforcement officials continued to collaborate about the escaped inmate’s whereabouts, new information led authorities to Jackson, where he was located and handcuffed. Delcambre will be transported back to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail for booking before being transferred to another facility, per officials.
Delcambre is now facing new charges of aggravated escape. He was originally behind bars on drug and felony theft charges.
