Phoenix’s football-picking rhino is going with the Rebels ahead of Thursday’s Fiesta Bowl.
Chuti “The Cutie,” one of the Phoenix Zoo’s most beloved animals, has gotten in on the Fiesta Bowl fun every year since 2021. Zookeepers annually place two boxes, each having a logo of one of the teams playing in the game, and then let Chutti make his prediction. This year, the box Chutti knocked over signaled the team he’s picking to lose.
On Wednesday afternoon, Chutti checked out both the Ole Miss and Miami boxes and carefully considered his options. He then took horn to the Hurricanes and knocked over the Miami box, signaling the Rebels as his straight-up winner.

The good news? Ole Miss has even more support in Phoenix now as thousands of Rebel fans have already made the trip to Arizona.
The bad news? Chutti hasn’t quite yet mastered the art of predicting football games. According to ESPN, Chutti has correctly picked the winner once in his past four attempts when he went with Oregon over Liberty in 2023.
That being said, maybe this is the year that Chutti turns around his record and begins to etch his name alongside other famous animal futurists like Paul the Octopus in Germany, Jimmy the Groundhog in Wisconsin, and Tater the Gopher Tortoise in Florida.
