An officer-involved shooting in McComb is under investigation.
According to the McComb Police Department, officers arrived at a location near the city’s library on Wednesday to question a subject who was allegedly “acting suspiciously.” Multiple schools in the area were temporarily placed on lockdown due to the situation.
Law enforcement was notified in advance that the subject was potentially armed, and upon making contact with the unidentified individual, the subject reportedly made a sudden movement toward police. Officers then discharged their weapons, striking the subject, per the report.
The subject was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assessing the incident. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
