Residents in north and central Mississippi will not be able to update their driver’s licenses in-person on Monday due to the effects of Winter Storm Fern.

According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, driver service bureaus in the northern and central regions of the state will be closed. These locations include bureaus in Batesville, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, Corinth, Greenville, Greenwood, Grenada, Jackson, Kosciusko, Meridian, Nesbit, New Albany, Newton, Olive Branch, Oxford, Pearl, Philadelphia, Richland, Starkville, Tupelo, and Vicksburg.

As for the southern part of the state, driver service bureaus in the following cities will have a delayed opening of 10 a.m.: Biloxi, Brookhaven, Gautier, Gulfport-Airport, Hattiesburg, Hattiesburg West, Laurel, Kiln, Natchez, and Picayune.

“Winter weather has impacted central and north Mississippi. We encourage everyone to stay home, stay warm, and avoid travel if possible,” Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said. “We are taking precautions to protect our employees while continuing essential services, and keeping everyone safe as our top priority. I would also like to thank all first responders and frontline workers for their service during this winter weather storm.”

Department of Public Safety officials have not announced any Tuesday closures, though some are possible due to persisting power outages across the state.
