3 arrested, 71 animals rescued in Jackson County dog-fighting investigation

Three people have been taken into custody, and 71 animals have been rescued following an investigation into an alleged dog-fighting operation in Jackson County.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said Monday that the investigation that led to Pintail Lane in Vancleave yielded the seizure of 67 canines, two goats, one horse, and one rooster. All animals were taken into custody by the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

As a result of the investigation, the following arrests were made:

  • Princeton Knox, 45 — Charged with dog fighting and animal cruelty.
  • Tracy Daniels, 63 —  Charged with dog fighting.
  • Jaswan Butler, 29 — Charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and probation violation.

Officials are continuing to assess the case, and additional charges or arrests are possible.
