4 people airlifted after car crash in Lafayette County

Four people were airlifted to a pair of hospitals with critical injuries following a car crash in Lafayette County.

According to local law enforcement, the accident took place along County Road 313 on Saturday just after 7:30 p.m. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, Lafayette County Fire Department, and Priority Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders located an unspecified vehicle off the roadway with four individuals suffering injuries. Medical personnel began performing life-saving measures on the spot, but due to the individuals’ conditions, four medical helicopters were requested.

Three patients were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, while the other was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis. The identities of those involved in the accident have not been released at this time.

While details surrounding the crash remain slim, law enforcement officials are investigating to determine the cause.
