A man has been rescued after being trapped in a Yazoo County grain bin.
Officials said the incident occurred Monday afternoon at a farm on Whites Lane Road, where the unidentified man was trapped in a corn bin for several hours. First responders from surrounding counties arrived at the scene to help with the rescue mission, where the man was safely removed from the bin and transported to a local hospital.
Personnel from the Indinola, Sunflower County, Leflore County, Ridgeland, Madison, and Yazoo City fire departments, along with Madison County and Yazoo County emergency management agencies, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office, the University of Mississippi Medical Center AirCare, and Pafford Emergency Medical Services, assisted in rescuing the man.
“Sometimes a situation arises, and all the right people with all the right training and all the right tools come together at the same time to risk their own safety to help someone they have never met,” a statement from UMMC AirCare reads. “Today in Yazoo County, that happened to affect a technical rescue of a man trapped and sinking in a grain bin. Watching these teams work together was truly amazing to witness and be involved in.”
The man, who is said to work for the owners of the farm he was on, is in stable condition at this time.
