College baseball is officially here, but the schedule for opening weekend has been modified at Ole Miss.
The National Weather Service is forecasting rain in Oxford, with precipitation expected to ramp up in the late afternoon and evening, prompting officials to move game two of the Nevada series to noon. The contest was originally scheduled to begin at Swayze Field at 1:30 p.m. No schedule changes have been made to the matchups on Friday and Sunday.
“The first 250 fans in attendance will receive free tickets in response to Winter Storm Fern. Tickets are provided on a first-come, first-served basis,” a statement from Ole Miss Athletics reads.
At this time, Mississippi State and Southern Miss have not announced any modifications to their opening weekend schedule. The No. 4 Bulldogs are hosting Hofstra at Dudy Noble Field, while the No. 20 Golden Eagles are welcoming UC Santa Barbara to Pete Taylor Park.
