Mississippi native and Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman’s “Symphonic Blues Experience” is coming to Jackson as part of a nationwide tour.
The performance is scheduled for March 27 at 7 p.m. at Thalia Mara Hall, featuring the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra alongside various blues musicians. According to Visit Mississippi, the show blends symphonic arrangements with blues storytelling deeply rooted in the Magnolia State.
Freeman, who founded Ground Zero Blues Club locations in Clarksdale and Biloxi, is the creative force behind the production. The show highlights the state’s musical heritage through narration, visuals, and live performance. Promotional materials do not confirm whether Freeman will appear in person at the Jackson performance.
The tour spans multiple cities, aiming to showcase Mississippi as the birthplace of America’s music and connect audiences with the blues genre’s cultural impact. As of now, Jackson is the tour’s lone stop in Mississippi.
“Music has always been one of Mississippi’s greatest storytellers,” Visit Mississippi executive director Rochelle Hicks said. “This tour allows us to share that story across the country and invite people to discover the place where it all began.”
