As we venture deeper into the high school basketball season, the most prolific male and female hoopers from each of Mississippi’s seven public school classifications are being honored.
The Mississippi High School Activities Association and Association of Coaches have announced this year’s Mr. and Miss Basketball winners, highlighting the state’s top ambassadors in the sport.
Miss Basketball Award Winners
- 1A – Daylen Grisham (Ingomar High School)
- 2A – Mariyah Farrell (Heidelberg High School)
- 3A – Lamaya Southward (Booneville High School)
- 4A – Kazli Timbes (Tishomingo County High School)
- 5A – Kayllis Walker (Laurel High School)
- 6A – Shamira Morton (Canton High School)
- 7A – Jada Gay (Starkville High School)
Morton was the only individual player to repeat as Miss Basketball this year. Meanwhile, Ingomar and Tishomingo County maintained bragging rights with repeat winners.

- 1A – Jon Grey Morrisson (West Union High School)
- 2A – Zion Grant (Pelahatchie High School)
- 3A – Wilson McDonald (Alcorn Central High School)
- 4A – Landon Hall (Pass Christian High School)
- 5A – Mike Hood (Columbus High School)
- 6A – Blake Nettles (Pascagoula High School)
- 7A – Sam Funches (Germantown High School)
This marks the first Mr. Basketball title for all seven players. Morrisson, a multi-sport athlete, was named Mr. Baseball at the 1A level last year.
All Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball winners will be recognized during the 2026 MHSAA State Championships from March 2-7. A full high school basketball playoff schedule can be found here.
