An investigation into an officer-involved shooting along the Mississippi Gulf Coast is underway.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into an incident involving deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and an unidentified subject on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute and located a vehicle believed to be involved near Five Oaks Drive. As a deputy approached, the subject allegedly attempted to strike the deputy with the vehicle.
The deputy then discharged his weapon, striking the subject. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital. The deputy did not sustain any serious physical injuries, and no other injuries were reported, per law enforcement officials.
State officials are currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. Information in the case is subject to change.
