Ole Miss returned to the D1Baseball rankings this week, as Mississippi State and Southern Miss held strong in the polls after a good weekend of conference play.

The Rebels (19-6, 3-3 SEC) landed at No. 18 after earning a home series win over then-No. 15 Kentucky. A 1-3 record the week prior – including a midweek loss to Southern Miss and a series loss to Texas – found Mike Bianco’s club dropping out of the rankings. But an immediate bounce back with a Tuesday win over Austin Peay and two victories over the Wildcats earned the red and blue their highest ranking of the 2026 campaign.

In Starkville, the Bulldogs (20-4, 4-2 SEC) held onto their No. 6 spot after going 4-0 over the week. Brian O’Connor’s club mounted a pair of 10-run-rule victories — one being a 17-1 win over Jackson State on Tuesday and the other being a 17-7 win against Vanderbilt on Sunday — and leaned on stalwart pitching in Friday’s and Saturday’s wins over the Commodores. On a pitching note, Bulldog ace Ryan McPherson exited Friday’s game early with an unspecified injury.

The Golden Eagles (19-5, 3-3 Sun Belt) moved up one spot following a solid week. After opening conference play on a low note with a series loss at Arkansas State, Christian Ostrander’s club earned a revenge win over Nicholls, then back-doored Troy with victories on Saturday and Sunday following Friday’s loss.

An intertangled week lies ahead for all three clubs. Mississippi State will host Southern Miss on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT, then will travel to Oxford to play Ole Miss over the weekend. Ole Miss will travel to Memphis on Tuesday for a midweek outing beginning at 6 p.m. CT before hosting the Bulldogs. Southern Miss will welcome Appalachian State to Pete Taylor Park over the weekend after playing Mississippi State in the midweek.
