“Please take me back home to Mississippi.” If you recognize that line, you already know Afroman – and now, he’s getting his wish. At least for a few nights.
The Grammy-nominated rapper from Hattiesburg announced plans for his 2026 Freedom of Speech Tour. It includes 30 stops across 12 states and Canada. He will be in Mississippi for three of those stops: Martin’s Downtown in Jackson (April 2), Brewsky’s in Hattiesburg (April 4), and Crossroads Arena in Corinth (May 1). Tickets are available now.
In addition to “Mississippi,” Afroman is best known for hits like “Because I Got High” and “Crazy Rap (Colt 45 & 2 Zig Zags).” What he’s been known for most as of late, though, is a high-profile lawsuit recently won over the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio. On March 19, a jury ruled in his favor in a defamation lawsuit filed by seven deputies, who sought $4 million over music videos that used home security footage to satirize a 2022 raid on his home outside of Cincinnati.
The deputies argued their reputations led to harassment. The raid, which stemmed from a drug and kidnapping investigation, ultimately resulted in no charges. Afroman later incorporated the footage into songs such as “Lemon Pound Cake,” criticizing the officers’ actions and accusing them of taking $400. His legal team maintained the videos were protected under the First Amendment as artistic expression and social commentary. The jury agreed, delivering a verdict his attorneys say reinforces protections for free speech.
Afroman also drew attention during the trial when he showed up to the courthouse wearing a red, white, and blue American flag suit. That moment – and the broader legal victory – is expected to be a major talking (or singing) point on the upcoming Freedom of Speech Tour.
Afroman’s agent Brian Lotterman, speaking to Celebrity Access, praised both his work ethic and recent legal win, calling him “one of a kind” and “an American hero.” The agent added that the court victory represents not just a personal triumph, but a broader win for creative expression.
Additional dates for the Freedom of Speech Tour are expected to be announced soon.
