Mississippi State is back in the top five, and Southern Miss is back in the top 10, while Ole Miss has dropped out of the college baseball rankings altogether.

The Bulldogs (24-4, 7-2 SEC) jumped up two spots to No. 4 in the latest top 25 by D1Baseball after an impressive week, one in which they dominated the state of Mississippi. Brian O’Connor’s club mauled Southern Miss 12-0 in front of a raucous home crowd on Tuesday, then traveled to Oxford to face archrival Ole Miss, where they outscored the Rebels 18-8 and won all three games.

Mississippi State continues to be one of the hottest commodities in college baseball. They’ll look to maintain their dominance versus Grambling at home on Tuesday before hosting Georgia for their third conference series of the 2026 campaign.

The Golden Eagles (21-7, 5-4 Sun Belt) moved up three spots to No. 8, largely due to former top 10 teams plummeting in the rankings. Christian Ostrander’s club moved on quickly from Tuesday’s defeat at Mississippi State and handled business versus Troy at home, where the black and gold won two of three games.

Southern Miss will return to Pete Taylor Park on Tuesday to battle Southeastern Louisiana before heading east to face Old Dominion.

Meanwhile, the Rebels (19-10, 3-6 SEC) dropped out of the top 25 after going winless last week. Mike Bianco’s club was upset at Memphis in Tuesday’s midweek battle before suffering three straight losses to Mississippi State at Swayze Field. Situational hitting continues to be a major concern for the red and blue. Ole Miss stranded 27 runners over the weekend and went scoreless with bases loaded a whopping four times in the series finale.

Ole Miss will host Little Rock on Tuesday, then travel to Florida for a three-game affair. All three Mississippi teams will play a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday series this week, with Easter Sunday on the horizon.
