A rape suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Indianola, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation confirmed.
MBI said agents with the U.S. Marshal Service were attempting to serve a warrant for rape on a subject a local residence. Upon arrival, the subject displayed a weapon toward agents. An agent then discharged his weapon striking and killing the subject.
“MBI is currently assisting this critical incident and gathering evidence,” a spokesperson said early Monday afternoon.
No agents were seriously injured, and the subject’s name has not been released.
Once the investigation is concluded, MBI will turn over its findings to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
