A Natchez mother is behind bars after allegedly sending threatening photos involving her 4-month-old baby to the child’s father.

Police Chief Lee Best said the unidentified father notified law enforcement of the messages on Monday morning. The father also shared the pictures on social media, but later deleted the posts. The pictures in question are said to have shown the infant lying underneath a vehicle with a person’s foot on the baby’s stomach.

The accused subject behind the messages was identified as 27-year-old April Alexander. She is currently in the custody of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office on an attempted murder charge. Officials say the infant was located and is now in the custody of Child Protection Services.

Alexander was not the only person arrested in this case. The police chief said two other individuals, identified as Jessica Griffin and Dandridge Coats, attempted to hide Alexander in their home while officers were looking for her.

Both Griffin and Coats face hindering prosecution and rendering criminal assistance charges.
