Ole Miss is altering its weekend baseball schedule with expected inclement weather on the horizon.

The university’s athletics department announced that Friday’s opener versus No. 5 Georgia is being postponed. The teams will now play a Saturday doubleheader with first pitch of game one set for 1 p.m. The second game of the series will occur 50 minutes after the first one concludes. Both games have to be at least nine innings long, barring a 10-run rule outcome, per a new rule.

“Tickets and parking for Friday’s game will be honored for game two of the doubleheader. Tickets for the originally scheduled Saturday game will be honored for game one of the doubleheader,” a release from Ole Miss Athletics reads. “If fans intend to leave between games, they will need to use Friday’s parking for game two.”

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 100% chance of rainfall in Oxford on Friday night, with thunderstorms being likely. Saturday’s forecast is not so promising, with the chances of thunderstorms being high, though the brunt of the bad weather is anticipated to hit before the two games get underway.

“Ticket holders will use their current tickets for the rescheduled game times. New tickets will not be issued. All-in-one season tickets will not automatically update in your wallet between games,” the release further reads. “You will need to sign into your account from your mobile device on the Ole Miss Sports App or olemisstix.com to re-add game two to your mobile wallet.”

As for the series, Mike Bianco’s No. 17 Rebels (30-12, 10-8 SEC) will look to slay an offensively sound Bulldog club that leads the conference in both batting average and home runs. A rock is sure to meet a hard place, however, as Ole Miss boasts one of the SEC’s best pitching units.

Baseball is not the only main attraction in Oxford, as the 29th annual Double Decker Arts Festival is set to occur this weekend. At this time, event organizers have not announced any schedule changes.
