No. 15 Ole Miss dominated Tennessee-Martin 17-6 on Tuesday night, with the main highlight of the midweek battle being Rebel third baseman Judd Utermark breaking the program’s all-time home run record.

Utermark hit a two-run long ball in the bottom of the first to give the home club a 2-0 lead, and more notably, to etch his name in Ole Miss history. With the home run, Utermark surpassed the program record of 48 career deep shots he and Kyle Gordon previously shared.

“I’m blessed, not only to this university, not only to my family, not only to my supporting cast, but to the Lord,” Utermark said after the game. “I love this university. I love the people here. I’m forever indebted to the opportunity to be here.”

Utermark, a senior, was honored with a video tribute with Gordon, family members, and teammates congratulating him for achieving the milestone. At the same time, more than 8,000 fans at Swayze Field gave him a standing ovation. Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco praised Utermark as an exceptional leader, whose impact both on and off the field has been nothing short of commendable.

“None have been better than him, and we’ve had many great ones,” Bianco said. “He’s loved by the fans and everyone he’s interacted with. He’s patient. All the boxes that you would want to check, from an athlete to a good person, he does it.”

As for the game, the Rebels were fueled by a 10-run bottom of the second, which paved the way for the 10-run rule victory. Will Furniss led the team offensively with two hits and five RBI, while Dom Decker had a hit, drew two walks, and reached home plate three times. Austin Fawley and Brett Moseley joined Utermark in knocking a ball out of the park.

On the mound, Owen Kelly (3-2) was credited with the win after fanning four of the six batters he faced while only allowing one hit. Former Sunday starter Wil Libbert opened things up for the Rebels on Tuesday and struck out three batters while only allowing three hits in three innings. Both Libbert and Kelly had an unearned run attached to their stat sheets.

As a team, the Ole Miss offense had 12 hits, while the pitching staff worked 11 strikeouts. The one dark spot of the night was the Rebels making four fielding errors in the final midweek outing of the season.
