Ole Miss is front and center stage in the sports scene, with star running back Kewan Lacy being featured as a cover athlete in the new College Football 27 video game.

EA Sports teased fans with the game’s cover Tuesday ahead of its highly-anticipated release, and the standout Rebel bell cow was one of three players displayed. Joining Lacy on the cover are standout Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney and returning Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

Lacy broke out onto the college football scene during the 2025-26 campaign after he transferred to Ole Miss from Missouri. In his debut season with the Rebels, Lacy quickly became one of the top players at his position, logging 1,567 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on 306 carries, ranking in the top five nationally in each of those categories.

The Dallas native was the program’s first-ever Doak Walker Award finalist and played an integral role in the Rebels’ inaugural College Football Playoff run, which included wins over Tulane and Georgia and a loss to a Miami Hurricane team that was led offensively by Toney.

Lacy elevated as one of the fan-favorites in Oxford with his “BTA” end zone celebration after every touchdown being complemented by a collection of belts donated to him being used as a symbolic representation of beating an opponent. His loyalty is also celebrated at Ole Miss, as Lacy elected to remain with the Rebels under Pete Golding’s leadership instead of following ex-head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was reportedly in the running to be on the cover of the interactive college football game, which is set to be released on July 9, but his legal team says he was denied the opportunity due to questions surrounding his eligibility.

In a lawsuit against the NCAA filed in a Mississippi court, Chambliss’ attorneys allege that the quarterback was engaged in negotiations with EA Sports about being on the cover of the game, but the company ultimately backed out over concerns that he would not be allowed to compete in the upcoming season At that time, Chambliss was embattled in an eligibility dispute with the NCAA — one that he ultimately won.

Chambliss may not be on the cover of College Football 27, but he will be in it, along with Lacy and a myriad of other Ole Miss players. The July release will give Rebel fans another way to pass time in the offseason before year one of the Golding era kicks off in September.
