Visit Mississippi is putting on its red, white, and blue this weekend as it hosts a celebration of America.
As a part of Mississippi’s ongoing festivities for America’s 250th birthday, the state’s tourism agency is inviting all Mississippians to a free night of patriotic music at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Saturday, June 20, at 6 p.m.
“Our one big, signature event is made up of hundreds of voices,” Visit Mississippi’s Katie Coats explained on Mornings with Richard Cross. “Including a big choir who is going to join together to sing patriotic songs and original arrangements by Dove Award winner David T. Clydesdale.”
Clydesdale, the headliner for the event called “United in Song,” bolsters an impressive resume as a composer with years of experience creating and arranging patriotic music. Not only has he won numerous Dove Awards, but he also has a Grammy to his name.
“We hope people will come and look back to think ‘what a special event I got to be a part of,'” Coats said. “This is something we hope will really bring people together.”
Not only does Visit Mississippi want guests to show up in Jackson on Saturday, but Governor Tate Reeves also urges them to do so.
“United in Song will be a powerful showcase of patriotism and unity as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday,” Reeves said on Facebook. “Get your tickets and join us for a night of music that will make you proud to be an American!”
Although admission to the event is free, guests will need to secure their tickets online in advance to witness never-before-seen compositions by Clydesdale performed by a live orchestra.
