Mississippi farmers markets to celebrate Independence Day with America250 events

Mississippi’s state-operated farmers markets will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday with America-themed events featuring local vendors, fresh produce, and activities commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday.

The Mississippi Farmers Market, located at the state fairgrounds at 929 High Street in Jackson, will host its July 4 event from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Genuine MS Market, located at the Brandon Amphitheater at 8190 Rock Way in Brandon, will host its July 4 event from 8 a.m. until noon.

“The celebrations will feature local vendors, seasonal produce, family-friendly entertainment and a day to honor America’s history and Mississippi’s agricultural heritage,” a press release from the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce said.

Both markets offer fresh vegetables, fruit, mat, jams and jellies, honey, breads, plants and flowers, and handmade art from local farmers, producers, and artisans.
