It’s going to be dangerously hot across Mississippi to start the week, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS has issued a “Dangerous Heat” threat for all 82 counties from Monday through Wednesday. Forecasters say high temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s, with heat indices making it feel well above 100 degrees.
The northern Delta – including Tunica, Clarksdale, Cleveland, Greenville, and Greenwood – is under a Significant Risk (Level 3 of 5) for heat-related impacts. The rest of the state is under an Elevated Risk (Level 2).

Heat indices statewide are expected to range from 105 to 115 degrees. The risks are in effect each day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The NWS is reminding Mississippians to recognize the signs of heat illness, as heat exhaustion and heat stroke become increasingly likely during prolonged outdoor activity in extreme conditions.
Officials also urge people never to leave children or pets unattended in vehicles and to drink more water than usual when spending time outside.
