An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting in Tupelo left one person injured.
According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the incident happened Wednesday and involved the Tupelo Police Department in the area of Ruffwood Drive.
Officers were responding to a domestic violence call in the area and, upon arrival, located a subject who displayed a weapon toward them, DPS said. The officers then discharged their weapons, striking the subject.
The subject, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital. The status of their injuries are unclear.
No law enforcement officers received serious physical injuries.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and will turn over all findings to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
