Another partnership to bring free field trips to Mississippi students has been made. Nissan Neighbors has awarded the Foundation for Mississippi History $40,000 to support field trips for students statewide to visit the Two Mississippi Museums.

Located in downtown Jackson, the Two Mississippi Museums consist of the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. The Nissan grant will allow schools to bring students to the museums during the 2026-2027 school year free of charge. It will help cover admission, transportation, and on-site lunches.

“We are grateful to Nissan for its continued investment in our educational programs and the students we serve,” MDAH director Barry White said. “Their support makes it possible to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that bring history to life and give students the opportunity to connect with Mississippi’s past in meaningful ways.”

Nissan and the Two Mississippi Museums have a longstanding partnership that this grant is only strengthening. The Nissan Foundation donated $500,000 to help the museums open and have shown continued support over the years to help expand educational access for students.

“Now in its 34th year, Nissan Foundation remains steadfastly committed to enriching communities in collaboration with nonprofit organizations in areas Nissan calls home,” senior manager of philanthropy at Nissan North America and executive director of the Nissan Foundation Ali Tonn said.
