The Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council under Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the 2026 grant cycle.
In 2024, Fitch and her office filed suits against opioid manufacturers, which eventually led to the creation of the Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Council. The council was created in 2025 to help ensure that settlement funds totaling around $400 million are allocated accordingly to people who were affected by opioid addictions in their own lives or from a loved one.
Under the attorney general, the council negotiates settlements with countless manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retail pharmacies, and opioid marketers, including Cardinal Health, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen, as well as Johnson & Johnson, among others.
Applications are now available on the attorney general’s website and on a new comprehensive portal for prospective applicants.
“There are so many great organizations across Mississippi doing innovative and exciting things to help our State recover from the harm the opioid epidemic caused,” Fitch said. “We have brought hundreds of millions of dollars to Mississippi, and we encourage any organizations with programs or services that might be eligible to review these updated resources and learn more about how to apply and help Mississippi heal.”
The new grant portal provides information on the criteria needed to apply for grant funding, how to apply, post-award requirements, the timeline for submitting and approving the application, and the application itself.
Fitch’s Office has contracted with The Steadman Group and NiVACK Group to help administer the grant program, and they will provide technical assistance to applicants, including through two webinars scheduled during the application period. Those webinars are on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m.
Applications for the 2026 grant cycle can be submitted online between Aug. 31, 2026 and Oct. 5, 2026.
