A Canton man was sentenced to 48 years in prison for selling cocaine.
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced Thursday that Jimmy McKay, 57, was charged with three counts of sale of cocaine as a subsequent drug offender.
In December 2025, narcotics investigators with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department purchased crack cocaine from McKay on multiple occasions at his Canton home. During each encounter, the undercover informant was fitted with a camera that recorded McKay selling the drugs.
After further investigation into his drug distribution system, a search warrant was executed by the narcotics investigators, who found over 200 grams of crack cocaine at McKay’s residence.
Having been previously convicted in Madison County for possession of cocaine in 2011, McKay was sentenced as a subsequent drug offender and given the prison sentence after he pleaded guilty on Aug. 25.
“Same song, different verse. Selling to others can screw up their lives, as well as those around them. No more,” Bramlett said. “Great job by law enforcement, investigators, and prosecutors. On behalf of the citizens of Madison and Rankin counties, thank you.”
