Former Attala County School District Superintendent Bryan Weaver has been found guilty of the 2023 murder of his wife.

A jury found Weaver, 49, to be responsible for shooting and killing his wife, Tracy, inside their home. The incident was initially labeled an accident until the victim’s body underwent an autopsy in Arkansas, where officials found signs of foul play.

Weaver was indicted on first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and manslaughter charges in February 2025. His trial began on Monday and wrapped up on Thursday. A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison. Weaver is also ordered to pay court fees related to his case.

The defendant will spend his prison stint in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
