Sumrall High School is mourning the loss of Chance Daniels, a standout football player for the Bobcats.

The school released a statement Monday morning confirming Daniels’ death but did not provide details about how the senior student-athlete died. Daniels also played for Sumrall’s basketball team.

“We are heartbroken to share the loss of one of our own, Chance Daniels. Chance was special and loved by so many. He made an impact on everyone around him, and his presence will be deeply missed,” a portion of the statement reads.

School officials also asked the community to keep Daniels’ family, friends, classmates, teammates, and teachers in their thoughts and prayers.

Daniels played wide receiver and defensive back for the Bobcats and had received offers from Jackson State, Alcorn State, and several community colleges.
