Jackson State quarterback Jared Lockhart has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his career night in the Tigers’ 66-14 win over Edward Waters.
The sophomore gave his career-best performance against the Division II school, completing 17 of 25 passes for a personal-best 388 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. Lockhart was awarded offensive MVP by Jackson State after leading his team to 704 total yards, of which he logged more than half by himself in the 52-point win.
Lockhart currently leads the SWAC in passing yards, with 610, and touchdowns, with five.
The Tigers are in a bye week, but will return to action on Sept. 19 against Tuskegee in Jackson.
