English advanced maritime technology company SubSea Craft is coming to Hancock County with a $6.1 million investment expected to create 56 jobs.
SubSea Craft, headquartered in Portsmouth, England, is expanding its U.S. presence with a new maritime production hub in Bay St. Louis. SubSea Craft develops and delivers advanced maritime platforms and autonomous technologies for defense, security, and commercial markets.
“The United States is a key market for SubSea Craft, and Hancock County provides an ideal location to meet growing demand for autonomous maritime systems,” SubSea Craft CEO Camilla Martin said. “This facility will enable us to manufacture, integrate, test and support advanced autonomous maritime systems at pace, strengthening our ability to support both U.S. and international customers while creating highly skilled jobs in the region. We are excited to join Mississippi’s growing maritime and advanced manufacturing community and look forward to being a long-term partner in the state.”
The location will take over an existing facility at Port Bienville, which will become SubSea Craft’s primary U.S. commercial production center. The new location will primarily manufacture advanced composite components for autonomous surface vessels, provide maintenance and technical support for customers across the country, and conduct testing and software validation.
As is the case with many economic development projects in the state, the Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive. Hancock County and AccelerateMS are also assisting with the project.

Tate Reeves said. “We’ve said for years that Mississippi workers can compete with anyone in the world, and companies keep proving us right. These are the kinds of jobs that give our people the opportunity to build careers in advanced industries right here at home.”
Officials added that operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, with all 56 jobs on track to be filled by 2028.
