The Itawamba Community College choir will take its talents to the White House this Christmas season.
ICC President Dr. Jay Allen announced that the choir was selected from more than 1,000 entries to perform during the White House Christmas tours in Washington, D.C. Itawamba’s performance is set for the evening of Dec. 14.
Under the direction of Kyle Davis, with Anna Morgan serving as pianist, approximately 68 ICC student performers will travel to the nation’s capital. Last year, Southwest Mississippi Community College’s stage band had the same honor.
“This is an extraordinary honor for our students and our college,” Allen said. “A performance at the White House is an experience they will carry with them long after their time at ICC. We are proud of the work they have put into their music and grateful for the opportunity to share their talents on a national stage.”
The performance will place ICC’s choirs among the musical groups helping celebrate the Christmas season at the White House. For the students, the trip offers a chance to connect classroom instruction and rehearsals with a performance in one of the nation’s most historic settings.
“This invitation reflects the talent of our students and the dedication of those who teach and encourage them,” Allen said. “We hope our community will join us in helping these students make the most of this remarkable opportunity.”
