ESPN’s “College GameDay” may have snubbed Starkville for its next episode, choosing Iowa City for Ohio State-Iowa instead, but the network is bringing another fan-favorite show to the Junction ahead of Mississippi State’s top-20 matchup against Alabama.
The No. 16 Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0 SEC) will host the No. 7 Crimson Tide (4-0, 2-0 SEC) on Saturday at 11 a.m. Before kickoff, “SEC Nation” will broadcast live and on-site from 8 a.m. until the game, which will air on ABC and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations.
“SEC Nation” is a traveling three-hour program televised by ESPN’s SEC Network each Saturday during the football season. The show visits a different SEC site each week, with previous 2026 stops this season including Auburn-Baylor, Alabama-Kentucky, Florida-Auburn, and Ole Miss-Florida.
The “SEC Nation” crew includes hosts and analysts Matt Barrie, Chase Daniel, Paul Finebaum, Roman Harper, Tim Tebow, and Marion Crowder. The show provides pregame insights and analysis for the featured matchup, as well as other games across the conference.

In addition to “SEC Nation,” Marty Smith and Ryan McGee’s popular talk show “Marty & McGee” will be taped outside Davis Wade Stadium. Described as a “cross-section of southern culture and college football,” the Starkville episode will air from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on SEC Network.
On Friday, Finebaum will broadcast “The Paul Finebaum Show” from Starkville from 2 to 6 p.m. The program airs on both SEC Network and dozens of ESPN radio affiliate stations nationwide.
The national programming will add on to an already busy weekend in Starkville, which includes several local events and a Friday-night concert by HARDY. The country rocker, who grew up in Mississippi, will perform inside Humphrey Coliseum on the Mississippi State campus.
“We’re so excited to welcome ‘SEC Nation’ back live from the Junction,” Visit Starkville’s Paige Hunt said on Good Things with Rebecca Turner. “But there’s also a lot of other things going on this weekend.
“We’ve got HARDY in the Hump. Also, we have our Main Street Starkville fundraising event called Unwine. That’s on Friday from 4:30 to 8:30. Local downtown shops stay open late and offer 20% off and different wines to taste. Then, if folks are still looking for a little something extra for their tailgate, the Starkville Community Market is going strong through the month of October at Fire Station Park every Saturday from 8 a.m. until about noon.”
Hunt said all hotels within Starkville proper are technically sold out, but she encouraged anyone traveling to the area for the game, concert, or other events to still call local hotels and check short-term rental options.
“I tell people that Starkville is sold out, but there are some short-term rentals still available,” Hunt said. “And most hotels have a couple-days cancellation policy…so call around to the hotels. They might have had cancellations. You never know.”
