Gasifier manufacturer Janus Organization is setting up shop in the Mississippi Delta with a $2.1 million investment.
The company plans to create 13 new jobs in Greenwood that will go toward building gasifiers designed to treat specialty waste streams. Gasifiers are high-tech chemical ovens that turn solid waste or biomass into a clean-burning gas instead of just burning it to ash.
Janus’ gasifiers are used in the treatment of specialty wastes, including medical, pharmaceutical, and rubber tire feedstock. The gasifier technology breaks down waste at the molecular level using high heat to reduce waste volume while producing minimal emissions.
“The Mississippi Momentum isn’t slowing down,” Gov. Tate Reeves said. “Our state continues to attract companies and private capital that are strengthening families and communities across Mississippi. Janus Organization’s decision to locate in Greenwood will bring a new manufacturing operation and new jobs to the Delta. I’m proud to welcome Janus to our state and look forward to its success in Leflore County.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program. Greenwood and Leflore County are also contributing to the project.
“Companies ready to invest need a location where they can move quickly from a decision to an operating facility,” Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director PJ Waldrop said. “Mississippi has the workforce, available sites, and business environment to make that happen. MDA is proud to support Janus as the company gets to work in Greenwood and establishes its manufacturing operation in the Delta.”
Janus expects to begin operations in mid-2027.
