With Hurricane Isaias approaching, several locations across southern Mississippi are opening storm shelters and safe rooms.
As of Friday morning, nearly two dozen Mississippi counties had been placed under some form of watch or warning. According to the National Hurricane Center, storm surge warnings also remain in effect on the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast. Isaias is expected to bring heavy rainfall, powerful winds, and flooding to parts of southern Mississippi.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced that five storm shelters and two safe rooms are open to residents.

- Harrison County (Gulfport) – County Farm Shelter, 15035 County Farm Rd.
- George County (Lucedale) – George County Shelter, 3161 Cooks Corner Rd.
- Hancock County (Perkinston) – Necaise Shelter, 30360 Highway 603
- Jackson County (Vancleave) – Jackson County EOC Shelter, 5500 Ballpark Rd.
- Jackson County (Moss Point) – Jackson County EOC Shelter, 1843 Highway 613
Safe rooms
- Pearl River County (Poplarville) – Poplarville Community Safe Room, 124 Rodeo Street
- Pearl River County (Picayune) – Picayune Community Safe Room, 501 Laurel Street
