The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its weather forecast for Thanksgiving 2026, predicting a mix of sunshine, rain, and snow across the country.

But what does the forecast have in store for Mississippi?

According to the publication, Thanksgiving Day, which falls on Nov. 26 this year, will bring cool temperatures and sunny skies across the state, offering a taste of traditional fall weather.

The forecast calls for conditions favorable for outdoor gatherings, whether that means dining outside or playing a game of backyard football.

“Skies will clear in time for a sunny Thanksgiving, making outdoor dining possible. Temperatures will cool compared with the previous warm stretch, so you may want an extra layer,” meteorologists with The Old Farmer’s Almanac said in their forecast for the Deep South, which includes Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac is known for its long-range forecasts. The above image, provided by The Old Farmer’s Almanac, shows its nationwide forecast for Thanksgiving Day 2026.

For Mississippians traveling this Thanksgiving, the forecast varies across the country.

The Northeast is expected to see mild temperatures and rain, potentially bringing wet weather to spectators at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Parts of the Midwest could experience chilly temperatures and snow, while much of the western U.S. is forecast to enjoy warm temperatures and sunny skies.

Founded in 1792, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is North America’s oldest continuously published periodical. The annual publication features long-range weather forecasts, gardening advice, astronomical data, and seasonal tips. Its forecasts are made months in advance, so actual weather conditions could differ from predictions.
