Residents planning to submit an in-person absentee ballot ahead of the November elections in Mississippi will soon have a couple of weekend opportunities to do so.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 31, circuit clerk offices statewide will be open from 8 a.m. until noon for in-person absentee voting.
Offices will also be open during normal business hours Monday through Friday leading up to the final day for in-person absentee voting on Oct. 31. A list of circuit clerk offices is available here.
For voters casting absentee ballots by mail, ballots must be postmarked on or before the election date of Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Eligible reasons for voting absentee include, but are not limited to, being out of town on Election Day, having to work during polling hours, living with a disability, or being older than 65.
Mississippi voters will decide the U.S. Senate race for the seat currently held by Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith, along with races for all four of the state’s U.S. House seats. Judicial races will also take place across the state, while special state House elections will be held in parts of Hinds, Rankin, and Simpson counties.
The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office provides a list of candidates by race and district and sample ballots searchable by ZIP code to help voters prepare for Election Day.
