The famous Budweiser Clydesdales are coming to Mississippi for the holidays.

Mitchell Distributing announced on Facebook that the horses will make stops in cities across both the Gulf Coast and the Delta between Dec. 4 and Dec. 19. The horses featured in the brewing company’s winter commercials are holiday staples, appearing during sports broadcasts, holiday programming, and prime-time television throughout November and December.

“The magnificent eight-horse hitch will be harnessed to the iconic turn-of-the-century Budweiser beer wagon, bringing one of America’s most beloved holiday traditions to communities across Mississippi!” Mitchell Distributing said in the announcement.

“There’s nothing quite like seeing these majestic horses in person, especially during the holiday season!” the announcement continued. “We’re so excited to bring this unforgettable experience to our communities and celebrate the season together.”

Facts about Budweiser Clydesdales

  • Budweiser Clydesdales stand approximately 18 hands, or six feet, at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail.
  • A gentle personality is also important as the horses meet millions of people each year.
  • A single Clydesdale horse will consume as much as 20 to 25 quarters of feed, 40 to 50 pounds of hay, and up to 30 gallons of water a day.
  • Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside places to make deliveries.
  • The Budweiser Clydesdales can be viewed year-round at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Grant’s Farm in St. Louis, Mo. They can also be viewed at Warm Springs Ranch near Boonville, Mo.
