More manufacturing jobs are coming to DeSoto County.

The city of Hernando announced Thursday that Southwark Metal Manufacturing is investing more than $29 million in a new, 270,000-square-foot plant on Highway 51. The location will sit near I-269 and in front of the Associated Wholesale Grocers distribution center.

Officials said the project is expected to create 25 new jobs and the facility is scheduled to open in 2027.

“The City of Hernando welcomes this investment in our community and looks forward to Southwark’s continued growth and success,” a press release from the city said.

Southwark is currently hiring for production assembly and shipping and receiving positions. New employees will receive paid training at the company’s existing Southaven location before transitioning to the new Hernando facility when it opens.

Positions offer competitive benefits, paid training, retirement benefits, and opportunities for career advancement. No previous manufacturing experience is required, officials added. Folks can apply in person at 8680 Stanton Rd. in Southaven.
