You never know when your lucky day will come, but a Gulfport resident found their moment to turn $2 into $200,000 on Monday.
The Mississippi Lottery player matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball on Monday night, turning what was initially a $50,000 win into $200,000 with the $1 Power Play option. Lorraine Chevron sold the winning ticket.
With no one across the country winning the big Powerball jackpot, the grand prize has climbed to $835 million. According to the Mississippi Lottery Corporation, it is the second-largest jackpot of the year behind a $1.04 billion jackpot, which was won on Aug. 12 by an Illinois player. Additionally, it is now the 10th-largest jackpot in Powerball history.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play and are available at authorized Mississippi Lottery retailers statewide. For more information about Mississippi Lottery games, winning numbers, and unclaimed prizes, click here.
