Mississippi airports to get more than $21 million in federal grants

A total of 52 grants from two federal funding programs have been awarded to airports across Mississippi totaling $21.48 million.

The grants are coming from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Infrastructure and Infrastructure Grant programs.

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., made the announcement Friday.

“Upgrading local air travel is an investment in the future of Mississippi,” Sen. Wicker said in a statement. “This funding will bring necessary advancements to our airport systems and provide more business opportunities for Mississippians. I look forward to these improvements being made to spur economic development in our great state.”

The following airports and municipalities will receive funding as part of the Airport Improvement Program, totaling $11,582,235:

Since 2022, Mississippi airports have received more than $83 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration.
