A former New Hope Middle School teacher has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Monica Grady, charging her with child grooming under a recently enacted state law.
According to investigators, school administrators met with Grady on Wednesday after concerns were raised that she allegedly provided alcohol and tobacco products to minor students. Following that meeting, Grady was no longer employed by the Lowndes County School District.
On Thursday, investigators with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Grady’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities say Grady was taken into custody without incident.
No identifying information about the student or students involved has been released to protect their privacy.
The investigation into Grady’s alleged actions remains ongoing, and officials say additional charges could be filed as evidence continues to be reviewed.
