Aircraft parts manufacturer GE Aerospace is investing $18 million in upgrades at its Batesville location.
The funding going to the Panola County site is part of a $1 billion investment by the company into its U.S. manufacturing sites in 2026. With the enhanced investment, GE Aerospace plans to accelerate engine deliveries, ramp up production of parts that safely extend time between maintenance shop visits, and strengthen defense production to keep pace with military demand.
In north Mississippi, the company will add and upgrade production equipment and tooling to expand ceramic matrix composite components, additional inspection equipment, and facility upgrades. Ceramic matrix composite engine parts are one-third the weight and can withstand 500 degrees higher heat than most metals.
“What we make in Batesville goes a long way in helping power the newest narrowbody and widebody engines around the world, and this investment allows us to deliver for our customers, U.S. manufacturing, and the region,” Matt Shambaugh, site leader for GE Aerospace in Batesville, said.
Per officials, the company’s Batesville site plays a key role in producing aircraft engines. Last year, GE Aerospace expanded operations at the location with an $11 million investment.
